They showed an Alkesh bomber being shot down by an F-18 on Stargate SG-1 this week. WTF an Alkesh is powerful and huge. I assume they left the shields off and took the hit on purpose.
 
Of course the shields were off on purpose--it was all part of Ba'al's plan. Further, the missle probably had a naquadah core designed to explode on contact.
