OMG....how small can these laptops go?!?!?

And all I need it for is to haul data from one place to another and act as a disk imaging terminal (Which you can't do with a cruddy little 20 gig laptop harddrive)

Does 80 sound better? That's what is available. You aren't looking hard enough. Waht are your specific requirements?

I've been shopping for 6 months. Laptops that meet my excessive criteria simply do not exist, and the only laptops that meet my size requirements are $3000 desktop replacement models that can't physically fit in a smaller space. And all I need it for is to haul data from one place to another and act as a disk imaging terminal (Which you can't do with a cruddy little 20 gig laptop harddrive)

Then get a tiny laptop and get a 160 gig firewire external HD for $150.

10lbs+ (I don't appreciate hardware that I can lose and not notice). 15" display. Keyboard reasonably sized so it takes up a good portion of the width of the 15" display. Onboard 100mbit NIC (PC card sucks). Fat harddrive. Has to look respectable (No flashy, ugly colors. Black and silver, nothing more)

Oh, and it has to be cheap at the same time. Which it should be because nobody wants somthing that size and everybody hates wired networking

Man that looks SWEET!

I own a R600 (usa model is the r505 I believe) thin with 12.1" screen. Keyboard is as useful as a full size one to me. I touch type so that would probably make it a bit easier. Nice keyboard to me.

I want a 15" laptop that has the size of the PowerBooks. NOW that would be SWEET imo.

If Sony or anyone else made one with the specs and size it would be great.

The X505/SP is made of space-age carbon-fiber; it has a higher rigidity:weight ratio than any material used heretofore in a notebook.

Battery Life: Standard Battery: 2.5 - 4 hours
Charge Time: 2.5 hours (when machine is off)

Looks alright to me.

Out of curiousity why would you want something 10+ lbs that you can get for less weight that does what you want it to? I'm really not considering that your initial reason is actually true.

I like to be able to feel my equipment. Plus, weight = solid build, which is critical when you'll be banging the thing around all day as a student and on service calls.

If I can put all my 'files' on it, play Half-Life 2 @ 1024x768 x 32 with 4xAA and 8x Ansio at a stable 45FPS without any major ghosting, they've got a buyer 😛

Yeah I'd say the perfect formfactor is the 15" PowerBook. Nothing compares to that when you need a 15" screen 😀

I don't have one though 🙁
