OMG! @home technicians told to evacuate the building! (belated update)

I was just on line with a customer and Tier1 tech (I'm Tier2) who's at another location making sure that the stupid Tier1 techs didn't transfer this customer back to Tier2. The issue belongs to Tier1 and they've not wanted to take care of him all morning.

Anyway, I conference both guys into my line and told the sub not to acknowledge that I was on the line, but I get hold music from the Tier1 guy. He comes on the line a moment later and says that they're being told to evac the building immediately!! Tier1 said that he'd call the customer back, but the customer had already gotten disconnected for some reason. I went ahead and spoke up saying that I had the phone number and the tech started taking it down.

But as soon as I started giving out the sub's number, the tech goes "OH SH!T" and the line disconnects before he can finish what he was going to say.

WTF?! SOMEBODY REMIND ME AGAIN WHY THE HELL I'M STILL AT WORK!?

<edit>

I called them back to make sure it wasn't a tech just taking advantage of the situation and blowing the customer (and I) off, but they aren't picking up and I can't stay on hold any longer. Looks like it's real. :Q I hope those guys are okay. Anyone else in Michigan know anything about this?

Maybe because @home people have fast net connections and can spread valuable information faster than people on AOL, who mostly have dialup accounts.

You work for @home:

you're not being evacuated, they finally called it quits and closed up shop. You're just as fired as your TM. I guess losing the contracts with all those cable companies was too much to recover from. ;)

I'm currently on the phone again to that call center to see if anyone's going to pick up. If no one's picked up, screw religious infringements on others here -I'm gonna stop my job for a minute to pray for them. If someone does pick up and the other guy was just getting me off the line, BASTARD! What's so hard about changing a truck-roll date???

There really shouldn't be any reason that they would evac, but I'm not going to call them liars either.

Not funny. Really not funny. If that line disconnecting was the building going down in shambles, would you keep joking about it?? I think not. And, for the record, I will have a job whether @Home goes under or not.

What enemy would bomb AOL and end all that confusion?

Discounts will have to be settled with your local office. Billing will also need to be done through your local office. I do tech support, not account and billing support. The only reg-hacks out that work are old and probably hard to find. I'm sure you can find them somewhere, but you'll probably have to look hard for the ones that work. We neither provide nor condone reg-hacks to deal with your service.

We all know @Home is gonna go broke anyway.

Shaw (one of the largest companies here in Canada) is dropping @Home like a bad habbit.

It's not @Home! It's Excite that's going down. @Home and Excite were business partners, so @Home is losing big on this one too. It's not @Home that's going down, but rather being pulled down. @Home will be bought out. Too bad AOL has put in a bid for it. There's no way I'm working for AOL. It's just a matter of whether @Home gets bought and renamed, or bought and closed. I'll have a job either way, though.:disgust:
