OMG HELP Another Dead Motherboard????

Ok just got my new Asus A7n8x dlx from Newegg via RMA. Plugged in basic stuff and everything posted ok. Now I hooked up everything else and the motherboard light comes on. But nothing happens when I press the power switch? Cuz I shorted something out by accident while I was hooknig everything up??? Or did something else go wrong? Thanks!!! =(

I have also noticed several more points:
1. If I press down on one part of the motherboard (its on my mobo tray right now) when it is hooked up to the PSU the green LED light goes out. Is this indication of a bad connection?

2. When I turn off the psu power the LED light goes out and I hear a little metallic sound coming from it?

Is this telling me that the motherboard is shorted out?

standoffs? everything is left at default...i jsut received it a few hours ago...just hooked things up...also the board looks like its been used so so you think its possible that newegg just sent me a customer return (refurb) which may have been defective?

If it is used, I'm sure they tested it. I've heard NewEgg's shipping used stuff, but it seems isolated. I'd have to agree, sounds like you're shorting. And making sure you don't have any metal standoffs in the wrong place is a good place to start. Do you have access to a multi-meter?
