OMG! Held hostage by my DVD player!

I started watching The Bourne Identity courtesy of Netflix and the fvcking thing MADE me sit through a pathetic preview of some retarded Mr. Bean spy movie and an ad. Couldn't fast forward OR EVEN GO BACK TO THE MENU!!! DIE UNIVERSAL STUDIOS DIE! SUCK IT!!!!!!11!!1!1 Bring back VHS!!

I hate previews that you can't skip through as well, but I'm not going back to VHS, I like the better picture & sound of DVD's 🙂

That sucks. Really sucks. Aren't some movie theaters getting sued because they say a movie will start at 7.10 and their is a buch of ads and the movie doesn't really start until 7:25? I heard that somewhere.

It's more drastic than that. Nowadays, commercials and trailers can take up to 30 minutes of time. And yes there is a class action lawsuit in some state against this.

We had 18 previews before LOTR: The Two Towers. It was nearly 45 minutes long. We also had Pepsi commercials, a truth commercial, and some other stupid sh!t.

Also, if a DVD doesn't let me skip a preview, I return it to the rental store and get a refund. I've argued 3 or 4 times for it. They always reluctantly give it to me. I fvcking hate paying to watch a movie then being forced to watch ads. It makes it really hard for me to care about any of the media companies when all they want to do is rape us for more money. Next thing you know, you'll have DVDs that you buy AND have to pay for each time you watch it. I think piracy is one of the only ways the consumer can express their views to the media companies. It's non-violent protest.

Man those people must be important (one was a school teacher) for their time to be so valuable, I kind of like the previews, if I don't have the time to sit through the previews, I don't have the time to sit through the movie...

They already tried this, it was called Divx.

What they should be doing is starting the commercials and previews 15 minutes or so before the actual show time.

can you speak in proper engrish, i read your post three times until i figured out what you were trying to say

On my DVD player, there's a secret menu, where you can do things like change the region code, switch macrovision copy protection on/off, and disable the skip/fast forward blocking.

Now I have no problems with discs like this - just fastforward all the rubbish.

WHat dvd player is this?

Mico Clasica 20

Don't know if the macrovision hack works - it's supposed not to on the latest firmware. My VCR doesn't have a SCART socket because of its age. Then again, it doesn't support macrovision because of its age.

The control thing I discovered by accident - it's not documented on any hack sites.
