nozomi was a mars probe that was launched in 1998 to study the upper atmosphere. originally it was to arrive in 1999, but problems delayed it and it remained in earth's orbit. the new plan was for it to arrive in 2003, but solar flares damaged some of it's electronics. they managed to get it to mars but the mission was abandoned. lol.

nozomi is also the name of one of the fastest train services. it reaches speeds close to 200mph.

nozomi is the name of former morning musume member tsuji nozomi. she made her debut in may of 2000 along with ishikawa rika, yoshizawa hitomi, and kago ai. there was suppose to be only 3 members chosen during this fourth generation audition, but tsunku surprised everyone by adding an extra member, nozomi. she graduated from the group on august 1, 2004 to form the group W (double u) with kago ai.

on november 14th of 2003, there was a scheduled release of a photobook for her. a few preview pictures were released that showed the title of "nozo-missile!?". lol

but a few weeks before the release the title was changed to "nono". why? i'm not sure, maybe they finally figured out the mars mission was a failure. lol.

on another side note, one of tsuji's claims to fame is being in the guinness book of world records for hula'ing the largest hula hoop.
