One a side note, it's awesome to watch Rick come back to the Cardinals and play well. It was sad to watch him fall apart as a pitcher.

Would be hilarious if all baseball players have to wear goggles after this.

I bet everyone in the on deck circle will pay attention to the batter from here on out. Sad that this happened to him though.

More like they will do something to the on-deck circle, either shield it or move it farther away.

This will happen for awhile but then you'll forget about it and start to go back to not caring until it happens again and the process will repeat itself. Its not like this is the first time something like this has happened in the history of baseball.

Wow, Such compassion from Devine! We're talking about a player who might be permanently damaged! Juan is a solid player, it's a shame it had to end for him like that.

On that note, I say in his honor the Cards win the NL Central and another WS while they are at it!!!

Juan, here's to you!

Do I feel sorry for the guy because he might lose sight in his eye? Of course, but do I care if this guy recovers enough to go back to playing the game he loves and gets payed millions and millions of dollars to do, no. I dont care for how sports athletes in this nation are worshipped and are somehow better than us regular americans.

This guy might have something to say about their ability to protect the players.

Boy, yeah, I guess Juan Encarnacion will have to go back to doing all of his commercials, TV appearances, reality TV shows, appearances, etc..

Oh wait, no, he's just one of the 99% of professional athletes that do their job while they can, then have to find something else to do once their time in the big leagues is over. Yes, there are some incredibly arrogant and spoiled athletes out there, but to suggest that its not a big deal that this guy can't play anymore is just stupid, because he has always (based on his time spent playing for the Tigers when I watched him regularly) seemed like one of those guys that's just happy to have the opportunity to play.

Were you the nerd in HS that girls looked over to go out with the athlete instead? Is that where the hate stems from?

No, he's just the guy who hates when people get to do what the love and, heaven forbid, make money while doing it.

That or an athlete stole his girlfriend/wife/sister/mother/son/brother/boyfriend?

LOL that's so dumb, no one needs to shed big crocodile tears over the fact that Juan will just have to settle for the millions he already has. I too feel bad for him and that sucks but I am not going to get too broken up since he has a few million things to fall back on.
