That controller just looks awful.

That controller is hideous.

At least it isn't a big steaming turd of ass-backward design like the DualShock 2.

I'm quite comfortable with the DualShock2. I love wired controllers. Batteries will end up costing you a bloody fortune.

What do you consider a "bloody fortune"? $10? $15?

Yeah, I've spend $25 on a great NiMH recharger and an assortment of AAA/AA batteries. Haven't had to buy dissposables ever since and I can use them in a wide variety of things. Wireless really is the way to go with console controllers - if they come with their own batteries and method of recharging then that's all the better, but it isn't exactly a chore or regretable expense should you need to do it on your own (I love my Wavebirds for my GC, they require 2xAA).

wow i can't believe the ignorance of some of the haters here. I not much of a gamer anymore, but I really like what nintendo has done here. They went away from the moto of "oooo, my computer with 3 gigs of ram, 4ghz dual core cpu's, terabyte hard drives, blu ray, hd dvd, so I'm better than you!". Nintendo went back to the drawing board and is trying to re-invent gaming, like they did with the original NES. What they came up with is innovative and fresh. Whereas Sony and MS only built ontop of the same old boring idea.

Why the F* are some people ranting on the battery powered wireless controller??? Is there really some other option to power wireless devices? Some can fork out $400 for a 360, $500+ for a ps3, but dam I can't afford rechargeable batteries for a nicely priced $250 Wii.

What's the deal with backwards game compatibility? Usually by the time the next gen consoles come out, I am well tired of the games I have. Every once in a while I want to play pong, but I never have the urge to play Madden 98. Madden 07 is much better 😉

Did you play Metroid Prime? I loved the two on the GC so I'm looking forward to this one as well.

How are the graphics in comparison to MP1 and MP2:Echoes?

Gotta wait a couple weeks for the tour to hit California 🙁

wtf is with ticketmaster and these BS charges: Full ticket price: $22, Convinience charge $7.80, and Processing fee: $4.80

Screw ticketmaster.

Metroid looked sweet! Good graphics and effects. 😀

You tell me the controller is awful...and I look at the xbox and say much of the same.

Nah man, Xbox isn't bad... Well, Xbox S/Xbox 360 isn't bad. It's very similar to the GameCube controller, except that the ABXY buttons are all the same shape. At least the Xbox has decent analog sticks, and they put the left one in the right place! And analog triggers. Gran Turismo is one of the Playstation's best franchises, why the hell don't they put some analog triggers on the controller???!

Well said. The question is how much power will the controller use? How often do you play the console? Most people use their TV remote daily and yet you dont change the battery often at all.

The gameplay is what will make or break nintendo, but i think from this thread, they will be well off.

We bought our tickets at the BO, $20 straight up.

Personally I won't play any console that doesn't use a ZPM to power its controllers. I mean, the power source of the controller is the defining aspect of console gaming for me. And I don't care how the controller actually feels in my hands, it just needs to look good because I'm a poser a heart.

Classic post of the year... From some moron who didn't think before he wrote. You judge a console by its controller's power source? Fine, be that way. And who cares how it feels anyway, really, what were we wanting, great playability?? gameplay?? great value?? inovative ideas?? Pshhh, those are for losers who want something new and exciting...

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to it. I will want to try it first, but that won't be a problem. The only games I need though are mario cart and super smash bros... the greatest N64 titles ever, and I'm pretty sure they have never been surpassed. The great thing is that this console opens up so many possibilities for developers. What will be the difference between HALO2 and 3? Graphics, some new modes, new story, and a better feel to the game. What will be the difference between Super Smash Bros. N64 and Wii? I have no idea, but instead of new superficial effects, it will be a new element of gameplay that we have never seen before.... Just wait and see, Microsoft and Sony will copy this, just like they always have done..... But kudos to Nintendo for coming out with something revolutionary 🙂

Ha, read the thread again, genius. If you still don't understand your mistake, there is no hope for you.

The last videogame I had was the original PlayStation... I found the PS2 nice, but since I had a reasonable PC for games, it never got me interested. The X-BOX is just as popular here in Brazil as it is in Japan, so I never gave it a look. But the Wii is attracting lots of attention here, and I'm sure I'm gonna buy it once I can find it. Just beacuse it can provide an entirely different gaming experience compared to a PC, something the the X-BOX360 and the PS3 cannot really do...
