The Nets are a great team and all this year and I love watching them, but those 2 commentators are really annoying the crap outta me (it's Ian Eagle and Bill Raftery I think).

They are SOOO freakin' biased towards the Nets, it's not funny.
For example, say Jason Kidd makes a steal, one of them will start mouthing about how well he understands the game, how quick he reads the play and cuts off the passing lane, etc. but nothing about the opposing team.

And then when the Nets make a good play or a dunk, one of them changes his voice and goes off with his stupid little expressions in that stupid little fake voice of his (only those of you who watch will know what I'm talking about here).

I'd rather listen to good 'ole Walt Clyde Frazier and his corny repetitive rhymes.

all local commentators are like that, of course they are biased towards their own team.

AFAIK, commentators are not allowed to show bias towards any team.

just rite now in the Boston team, one of them was going nuts that a traveling call wasn't made on Boston... he even yelled out OMG I think.

Update:
Fight fight! LOL
:p

In order to keep ratings up...they can't turn viewers away with commentators who are anywhere near right down the middle with their commentary. People who watch Nets games in this area (yes I live in the area) are more often than not cheering for the Nets. They want commentators who do the same.

I can imagine Walt Frazier calling a Nets game and describing Kidd "wheeling and dealing." He is a colorfull commentator. These guys have to make stuff up to fill in the dead air, so maybe you could cut them some slack. I'd rather if they would STFU sometimes too, but they gotta act busy and say something. I never heard the local commentators for the Nets tho. At least they are doing well !!! I hope that they go all the way.

Yeah, actually, I don't think the local announcers do a good job...

Whenever someone else, like a Marv Albert or Bob Costas is calling the game, you know how much better they are in comparison to the crappy local ones. Kinda makes you appreciate the good commentators out there. Go Nets! K-Mart 0wNz! :D

I think the worst has to be stupid Bill Walton... I think he's the biggest Laker whore ever... I mean I love the Lakers but come on now, do you really have to be on Shaq and Kobe's nuts all the time? Even in local broadcasts for the Clippers (at least in the past), if the Lakers are playing them, he'll praise Shaq and co. all night... I don't know how the other announcers put up with him...

On another note... can't wait till Chick Hearn gets back... forget all the other announcers.. he's the man...

if you dig the Nets and enjoy the game but hate the commentary, why don't you hit up the NJ Nets games? I hear the Nets, even with their success this year, have trouble selling out the arena, even the good seats are available from the looks of things on tv.

It's not just about them shutting up or stop making stupid comments (although it is part of it).
It's about how blatently obvious that they're rooting for the Nets the whole way.

I watch Knicks games too on MSG, and they are much less biased... I can barely tell that they favor the Knicks sometimes.
It's a little obvious with Frazier, but Marv Albert does a good job commentating.

And Kenyon Martin has become one of the cockiest players in the league.
Funny thing is that last year, he was nearlyunheard of.
The only reason he's shining this year, other than his flagrants :p, is because Kidd feeds him with good passes.
He has no game other than the dunk, made possible only by Kidd.
He can't create on his own, and he always tries to block shots like he's spiking a volleyball.

I try to make Nets games, but I'm 200 miles away from home...
You're right, they only sell out when a good teams/marquee players come to town (kobe, jordan), or when the Knicks come to play, the place is full of Knicks fans.

Kenyon Martin wasn't relatively undheard of last year. He was the #1 overall draft pick, and playing well till he hurt his leg again.

Martin got some skills other than dunking, he is a very good defensive player.
but man he needs to lay off the bad boy image, somebody who is bigger than him like shaq should smack him around a bit and teach him a lesson.
