just bought a new antec case. switched over my components, turn on the computer, and all i hear is a loud, high-pitched sound coming from my power supply. after 15 minutes the sound goes away, the computer turns on (case fans, and cd-rom LEDs) but the computer doesn't post. i hooked up my old powersupply, and the computer turns on again (fans, etc.) but no post! juice gets to the fans even without me pressing the power switch, it's as if the mother board is by-passed and the computer powers up just being plugged into the electrical outlet.....what the hell is going on!?!?

May want to try to boot with ram, 1 hard drive, video card, etc, no modem or unecessary hardware and see what happens then. What are the system specs of this system. Could there be a short problem somewhere because it is a new case and all. Also boot without having the motherboard in the case and see what happens then. Let me know if you need further assistence.

WHY, did you wait that long? Something's fried now is my guess.

Tell me you didn't sit there for 15 minutes and watch as nothing but this horrible sound was happening? Did you mean 15 seconds?

Take everything out of the case, sit the mobo down on an anti-static bag and hook everything up, try to boot it up that way, with limited components. Keep us posted.
