Intentional repost - OP is here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2324090

Why is it that thread is more than two hours old and has only a dozen replies?

Is it really that true that this occurrence is so common now that we literally don't react anymore? :( I'm curious if a thread with this title gets more responses than the casual title of the other thread.

I'm still appalled but I used to scour these articles for details, trying to understand how anyone could do something so horrible. I found myself skimming this one for anything unique but otherwise found myself filing it into the mental category of "college shooting."

Over 300 million people in this county. If only one hundredth of one percent are nutjobs, that's means there are over 30,000 running around out there right now.
I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

How is this possible if schools are gun-free zones? A would be shooter wouldn't be able to take his gun on campus.

It's Friday? People aren't home scouring ATOT for news?

edit: Reading comprehension failure. People aren't scouring P&N on Friday for news?

While I have sympathy for the victims frankly I don't give a shit about spree killings anymore since it's very clear that the vast majority of people prefer to use the victims as props in their political theater instead of ever doing anything about mental health care. I'd rather just not read about them since it's a pretty morbid topic.

The same reason why Mexican smugglers cross the border even though they know it is illegal.

Sad but true. Great choice of words.

Sadly, it has become so much a common occurrence that I see it, shake my head, and move on. It's become pretty much as common as suicide bombings are in the middle east.
