omg! CL65 AMG spotted on 10 Freeway.

well, so i was on 10 eastbound near Santa Moncia after checking out a Morgan Dealer. i spotted a black Mercedes CL65 AMG which looks remarkably like a, well, CL. it doesn't look any sportier or beefier than a regular CL.

anyway, as i was checking out who's behind the wheel, i found out there's a camera man filming the driver. i guess it is a tv show or something reviewing the CL. I pulled up next to the CL and took a shot with my cameraphone. the camera man didn't look too pleased probably because I f-ed up their shoot. 🙂 imagine in the Top Gear review of SLR McLaren some fool in a civic hb pulled up next to it and give Jeremy the finger; yeah, i think that's the magnitude of damage I did on them.

CL65, 600+ HP luxo coupe, when you're too badass for the world :thumbsup:

AMG SL65 vs the world at the dragstrip. Factory 11 secs while running AC and getting your ass massaged.

I briefly looked into a 2000ish CL500, still runs 40K+. Might be able to swing it, but at the same time kind of sucks to be a financial slave to a car.

hitting midlife crisis already there OS? 😛

that 40k could be better spend, on say, a F20C? 🙂

nah, it'd just be nice to have a pimp cruiser.

S2K is nice and all but, I think I'd rather go with the CL.

sigh OS, next time I see you you will be wearing Ralph Lauren Polo in a golf course, while smoking a cigar pipe.

HAHAHA
All the way from 2000 to 3000 rpm, the hand-built V-12 hammers the pathetically inadequate 285-section-width rubber with 738 lb-ft of torque. That amount of torque isn't uncommon-in fact, Mercedes itself makes another engine that cranks out 700 lb-ft. But that one goes in school buses. The SL65's rear tires aren't just bringing a knife to a gun fight, they're bringing a pair of left-handed safety scissors to a nuclear war.

I find I've turned an 11.85-second quarter at 118 mph-with the air-conditioning on and the seat gently massaging my back. When I pull up to the booth to get my time slip, the track official is apoplectic. "You need to slow down. You just ran in the 11s. I think you need a roll cage."

😀

This being a Mercedes, there's a stern German hiding somewhere under the hood, and that sneaky ah heck activates the traction control even when you've got it switched off. When that happens, you may as well phone home, because your ET is in trouble. On one run against a stacked Mustang, I spin too much, and the Mercedes V-chip cancels my programming on the way to a relatively blah 12.6.

There's a really sweet V12 Mercedes AMG parked down the road from me sitting beside a Viper SRT-10...

not sure what kind the Mercedes is though... sure looks sweet though... 🙂 I'll snap a picture at lunch with my cameraphone if it's still there... (Viper is there every day, it's someone's daily driver)

EDIT : Just did a google search for V12 AMG... came up with this... this is the car, only it's a dark gray / pewter color... god it looks good... PIC

We had an E55 AMG Mercedes out in our last autocross. It did pretty good for a 4400lb pig! It comes from teh factory at about 450hp, I recall him saying it was modded to push around 500hp.

Rich guy also owns an m3!

Heres a picture..

Here is the E55 Video if anyone is interested. He is probally hitting 80-90 near the end of that straight before the sharp right. It seems slower than it really is, simply because its at a higher level (on the roof) than we are used to.
M3 Video - He wipes out near the end, not sure WHAT he was trying to do.

EDIT: Hes a very sloppy driver, but at least hes rich 🙂.

EDIT2: The videos aren't THAT interesting, but I liked to watch it. He needs to put a cotton ball over his microphone so that wind noise won't effect the video.

I got you beat, I followed, then passed a Diablo SV yesterday. The rear end looks nice from the back, but from the front-back view it has the profile of a dually pickup.
