OMG! Blue Orb or Modified Skillsaw?

I just attatched a Blue Orb to my GeForce 2 PRO; flipped the switch and almost soiled myself. This thing seriously sounded like a skillsaw. Is this normal? If I didn't know better it sounded like the fan blades where hitting the fins of the heatsink. But I don't see that happening. On the same note. Since the wires coming off the Blorb have a three pin plug and the stock fan was connected to the card by a two pin plug, I used the included adapter to four pin and plugged it into the mobo. Is this too much power.? Is there any reason why I can't splice the two wires from the adapter to the plug from the original fan and plug the blorb into the card instead of the mobo?

My fan made that noise too when I got it. I told them to send me another one of warranty, so they did. And no, the fan's not getting too much power, and also no, I wouldn't plug it straight into the card because you might fry the card because the fan draws too much current.
