I always thought he was the liberal version of Tucker Carlson for CNN--but what the fsck is he doing covering hurricanes? I guess he's the new poster boy for CNN or something.

Anyway, he's covering the hurricane and he's talking about a Ramada sign that's about to come loose, when suddenly it comes loose and..man, I hope someone got a vidcap cuz its hilarious. He's trying to peek around the corner when he sees the sign coming for him and he screams and then his partner's like "get back! get back!" He's like a little kid out there!

He was? Why? I just don't get it...you're supposed to send the weather guy/gal or the science guy/gal. Not the guy who puts his own spin on every story and has a cushy desk job. He is a Vanderbilt heir, you know.

He's done a lot of outside the studio reporting...it gives you cred. he's been in iraq, afghanistan, rome, etc. reporting on a lot of different events.

i'm guessing he volunteers to do it for a number of reasons - money, cred, face time...i don't blame him.

Yeah I didn't realize he did all that Channel One stuff--apparently he was shot at in Africa and Bosnia and I guess that gives you a taste for being in the thick of things.

He's not particulary liberal, and he's an awful reporter. Good looking, but an awful reporter. I have bad memories of him eating foie gras during the NY blackout coverage.

Anderson Cooper has his own prime time news show on CNN. Anderson Cooper 360 ring a bell?

No hes certainly not the liberal version of Tucker. I remember when he worked the grave yard shift at ABC. You insomniacs know what I mean, ABC's World News Now... Comes on 3am cst M-F, they used to have the morning news jingle on Fridays...

edit - From Wikipedia:

As a budding journalist, Cooper became an anchor to Channel One News, an MTV-style newsprogram broadcast to many schools in the United States. He was sent to report from Bosnia and Rwanda among other places; on those dangerous assignments he was on occasion shot at, and came down with malaria during his trip in Africa.

Prior to joining CNN in December 2001, Cooper was a correspondent for ABC News. He also hosted the first two seasons of ABC's reality show The Mole and has co-anchored ABC World News Now. He also is a current Contributing Editor of Details magazine.

In January 2005, he was sent to South Asia to cover the tsunami damage. That same month, he also went to Baghdad (Iraq) to cover the elections. In February and March 2005, he covered the Cedar Revolution in Beirut, Lebanon. In early April 2005, he reported from Rome, covering the death of Pope John Paul II, and from London, covering the royal wedding. Since 2002, he has hosted CNN's New Year's Eve special from Times Square.

Yeah I'm with ya, fellow insomniac. The black chick he worked with on World News Now occaisionally pinch hits for O'Brian on MSNBC. I like them both.
