OK my ECS mobo finally pooped out on me over the weekend so I ended up at Fry's looking for a cheap upgrade (first mistake)
The FIC AN19C motherboard caught my eye. It sported the new KT400 chipset along with on board 5.1 audio support and a few other extras that I was looking for. I figured, "well most of todays motherboards are relatively mature in terms of stability and performance (not like the first socket A boards that greeted us almost two years ago now) at any rate I brought it home and plugged everything into my new MOBO.
Install went smooth, but at first boot I noticed that the display during bios set up was all garbled, I have no better way to describe the problem other than it appears like static on the edges of the screen and the display itself is very hard to read due to the garble (it is hard to type this message because of the garble)
here are some more system specifics:
FIC AN19C motherboard
AMD XP1800
ATI Radeon 8500
Crucial 2100 256 (2 sticks)
Seagate 40gb hd
Pioneer DVD 1040s
Iomega 12x32x
yadda yadda yadda
Windows XP Pro
The reason my ECS board went out was because of a power surge (grrrrr......) could the power surge have affected my video card as well? could that be a possible reason why the garble is now present in my new set up?
any ideas folks? thanks!!
PS no official mention of this board over at FIC's site in regards to support, I also checked thier boards and sent in an email requesting tech support.... uh oh.
