OMFG what does biweekly mean

Every other week, or twice a week. I really thought the former, but according to every online dictionary, it means BOTH.

What do you think when you hear biweekly?

No, biweekly would mean twice a week, as bianually means twice a year. Technically, the correct term, I believe, is bimonthly, or every other week.

Every other week does not sound right. If you are referring to "other" it means you are comparing a group of something so "not these here, but every other one" so it does not really make sense to use that.

It would make sense in a context where you are off the first week of every month so you could say "I don't work the first week of the month but work every other week".

- bi means every 2 of the following period name
- semi means twice for every of the following period name

So biweekly would be every 2 weeks. Semi-monthly would be twice per month.
