OMFG This keyboard sucks

Ok, I just bought an IBM Active Response keyboard. It's so fvcking hard to type with! I strain my wrist just typing after 20 minutes. It's quiet, so that's a good part. The keys sometimes are either a) too responsive b) unresponsive. Sometimes, in games, I strafe left and it keeps going left even though I released the key. Sometimes, in games, I press strafe left and it immediatly strafes left. I have to press the keys damn hard though. Sometimes I misspell something like "fucing" instead of...you know the word.

So any suggestions on how to work with this keyboard? Any keyboard tweaking progs? Should I return this and use the $30 towards another keyboard?

As of the moment, I'm going to keep the keyboard for another few days. See if it "breaks" in and the keys might relax. If not, I'm gonna return this pos or give it to my sister.

Sounds like a bum keyboard. Exchange it and see if another one works for ya.

Looking for a different keyboard? I luv my MS natural keyboard. I forget which model, but it's the cheap one. None of those 'fancy' internet keys. It was something like $35 at CompUSA before the $10 rebate a few months ago.

I'm using a cheap (less than $10) keyboard (no brand) and it works fine.

My advice: Never buy a keyboard of some (famous) brand, since only the cheap ones work and keep working (unless you've chosen one that's too cheap )

Ugh, isn't the IBM Active Response keyboard the 'revolutionary' one that requires different amounts of pressure depending on the area the key is in? If so, breaking it in ain't gonna help. It's just like that.

Elledan is dead-on with that; cheapos are the way to go. Personally I can't even stand Win95/98 keyboards. Give me a 101-key anyday!

Well, I have an IBM Model M, and circa 1989. The Model M itself has been around since 1984. Its a standard 101 key keyboard with removable key caps, detachable PS/2 cable and a nice layout with deep, clicky keys. And it lasts and lasts(11 years already, even though I've only just got it) I've worked with at least 5 other Model Ms of around the same age and none of them had any problems. So famous brands aren't neccessarily bad.

BTW I spent on average less than 5bucks on each Model M I had.

I like my 1994 101-key acer keyboard. Unfortunately, I broke one of the standoffs...
