I bet you won't hit 5 KB/s downloading Zipped files...

Why do you ask that?

Because your modem was using software compression, this achieving such high rates. If it were an "uncompressable" file such as a Zip or a Rar archive, you'd be going at regular speeds.
 
Also, I missed this initially: you said 20+k/sec. Do you mean kilobits or kilobytes? If kb, kilobytes, then it's only 2.5 KB/sec 😀
 
no, 20 K a second...as in .02 Megabytes a second.



Is that .92/v44 crap kicking in? I've never seen a bmp d/l that fast though
