I just notice that umd movies are 29$ ...since when?

I remember at the lunch of the psp, movies were like $14-19$ each....why the suddent price raise??

isnt there a way that you can get regular dvd's and burn them onto a mini-disc? so they will work in the psp?

I always used the combination of DVD Decrypter and PSP Video 9 (or whatever it was), and movies looked just as good as any UMD ever would. Encoded using AVC with PSP firmware 2.0 at the time (1.5 doesn't play AVC).

Also, some UMD movies have always been $29, but not all. However, $29 is the MSRP, as it is with a lot of DVD's, but as you know with DVD's that they are often sold well below their list price. I'm not sure why UMD's are still rather high, but I suspect most of it is because game-specialty shop like EB and Gamestop hardly ever sell items below MSRP.

That's pretty crazy, aren't they only capable of like 1.xGB?
Ya, 1.6 or 1.8 I believe. The only caveat is that you have to buy atleast a 1GB memory stick for your PSP, but nowadays you can get one of those for around $60 I think, that's two of the $29 movies.

You can't put it on a minidisc. Although the UMD is a magneto-optical disc like the MD (and unlike a DVD or CD, which is just optical), its format is different, and its shape is completely different from a MD.

You can put it on a MemoryStick Duo, however, which will work fine, and with the size and removal of special features, you can usually fit more than one movie on a 1g MSD.

1. buy movie

2. use DVD decrypter to remove movie

3. have nero 7

4. encode movie on HD to PSP format

5. easy, and ABSOLUTELY PERFECT quality. seriosuly, ive never seen it done as well as nero's AVC encoding. Its the only program i use for encoding now. H.264 MP4 FTW!

EDIT: In fact, nero can copy directly to PSP over the USB interface. It really is the easiest way to do things hassle free.
