So two cards (non-sli) on an dual-PEG motherboard + 8 30" monitors???
Make the simple "Quad-SLI" guys look like cheapskates.

In the business world a Quad SLI config is pennies for the potential profit from getting your job done more efficiently.

The software licenses probably cost multiples more than the cards and the person behind the desks salary is even higher. When you get done with it the quad SLI will look like chump change.

Absolutely, spending $50K on an Irix setup makes so much more sense :p

For the Quadro's market, the price is actually pretty cheap and the performance is monsterous. When Quad SLI was announced I think most people who are familiar with more then just the end gaming element "Quad Quadros" was the first thing that popped into their heads.

Multiple video cards in the pro sector just makes so much more sense than in the consumer sector. While I'm of the opinion that SLI and Quad SLI configs are really overkill and provide terrible bang for the buck in the consumer space, when you do things like render animation for a livng, every bit of speed counts.
