OMFG I wish HP would die

No offence to HP workers. But this is absolutely bullshit. Im trying to get my cousins digital camera to work, HP photosmart 612

I goto hp.com look for drivers, I have to buy them. I cant download them for free I have to buy the sob. THe camera is already bought and yet they want more money for it? This is absolutely rdiculous. he has win xp but Im guessing these drivers for the camera arent in the database. Maybe Im doing somethign wrong which I doubt but maybe. HP can kiss it. is there any oteh way to get this camera to work?

call and bitch... thats well beyond dumb of them... let me download the driggin driver.....

i don't need nor want to pay for a driver cd:|

That is bull. Why do they want to make you pay to ship a CD when you can download it? That company is making less and less sense every passing day.

The ironic thing is, this is in the customer care section, when obviously, hp doesn't care about its customers.

Thx for the same input. I guess I can say f*#k HP. I tried googling no luck.. perhaps on of the master AT'ers can help me out?

OS:xp pro
camera: hp photosmart 612

LMK something and keep the negative feedback about HP coming as its all negative bullsh*t

I think a friend of mine had the same problem... HP wanted him to pay for drivers for the camera under XP. I mean, geez... if you don't want to have to deal with big downloads or something, find... send them a FREE CD. How retarded.

I'm still pissed about Creative's lack of driver support for the older SBLive! Cards with live drives... once I upgraded to XP, no more remote center for me. I never could find a driver online for it or anything. Bastards.

Why would you even connect the camera to a PC ?

why not just get a flash card reader or something ?
it's so cheap lately and it's much faster than transfering through the camera

Well, in my buddy's case at least, I don't know if his camera had any extra storage besides what was built in... either way, though, it's the principle of the matter.

thats a good idea, but the point is, the camera is already bought. why should I be forced to pay more to use the god damn thing? that make no sense. i dont midn buying a card reader, etc, you are right they are cheap. but I shoudlnt have to do that just to use the camera when I paid for it, well not me my cousin, anyways.

we all should form angry mob and goto HP corp.

Actually HP has been doing this with anything they consider legacy for several years (and yes it is quite the huge pissoff).

A couple years back when I bought an HP computer, I needed to re-install the driver package because I installed a new OS. HP wanted $20 just to TALK ABOUT IT ON THE PHONE. Then, after some bitching they agreed to send the driver package for I think $40. Needless to say, I told them to f*ck themselves.

Have you tried just plugging the camera into the USB port? Windows XPs Scanner and Camera wizard (I think that's the name) seems to know how to read the data out of the two cameras I've tried. I prefer that to the downloading software that came with the cameras. Then I use IrfanView to rotate the images and the occasional Adobe Photo<somethingorother> to fix red-eye problems.

I have a 500 dollar HP officejet that doesn't even have XP drivers. XP's built in scanning barely works

I was going to suggest the same thing... I've always used the camera wizard to download the pics, with the three cameras that I've owned.
