Um... This was just taken across from my apt. As you can see the guy is on the 4th floor painting. But the bad thing is not what you see in this pic but what he was doing. He was painting the railing and to move where he was from left to right he was actually yanking the ladder out and quickly moving it over to the right so that he could continue painting more railing without moving the base of the ladder to the side or climbing down at all. I can see maybe doing this if you're a floor up but four floors up? Damn it was a scary thing to see. This guy will kill himself if he keeps that up.

lol wow.

Perhaps he will reconsider his painting strategy after he falls.

Make sure if he does fall that it doesn't affect your balcony getting painted. :)

He's probably thinking that if the ladder starts to fall, he can just grab onto the railing. But he must be forgetting that if he's already painted the railing, he's not going to have any grip. :Q

he won't kill himself. Probably break a few bones on the way down. Just make sure you keep watching, I would like to see the video.

Try watching the iron workers sometime.

Once you get used to the higth, it's not that much of a problem. When I was doing some wiring in my grandma's house, I got to the point where I'd grab a rafter, and move the ladder with my legs. Most of the time it was easiest just to hang out in the rafters.

Was just doing that sunday ... hang from the rafters and move ladders with your legs. Only managed to knock it over once, but it's only a 10' ceiling so, no big deal.

Wow. Look at those extra wide parking spaces. . . And people still can't get their cars between the lines?

really??

it seems to me that it's a skill.

do you think it is safer for him to come all the way down, move the ladder and go all the way back up?? i've seen lots of painters do that move the ladder thing. some of them walk the ladders pretty well.

the base is on grass, so the odds of it kicking out are pretty slim. The top could slide, but it would probably catch on something. I wouldn't do that, but to each his own...
