OMFG about Dragon Quest 8 for PS2!

Is it just me or are the load times in this game just atrocious? It's taking me an hour just to get through the first part to get to the cave south of the first town! Tell me it's just my aging PS2 and not the game!

i don't remember it being an issue, but i do remember it being a totally sweet game
