Roommate says he's going to copy 2 programs from me last night. I said fine. Getting ready to leave today and I notice ALL of my software is gone. WTF!?!

Don't you hate people that have absolutely no respect for other people's property?

So go take it back. Trust me, I'm pretty obsessive about my stuff too, but if someone doesn't have respect for my stuff, I'm not going to respect their right to borrow it.

Steal it back. It is yours, after all.

I would steal it back if it were in the apt. I've already searched.

What's wrong with it? If I was in the situation, I'd take my stuff back, and when I next saw my roommate I'd explain to him that he wasn't supposed to take all my software, just two programs. End of story.

Like I said, I'd take it back if it was there for the taking. I'm only a partial moron.
