New x1800xt on the way, and was wondering about you all's opinion on the Omega Drivers.

Worth it? Too much of a hassle? Easier to just use ATI to get their control panel software? A combo of the two?

I just use the regular ATI drivers -- but then again, I don't go around obsessively tweaking everything on my system. If you want to play with beta or nonstandard drivers, I've heard they are quite good. Not sure if there is much of a performange margin these days, though.

Unless you're running Crossfire, I think you can access pretty much everything that CCC does through ATI Tray Tools.

omega drivers are pretty good to use. i have been using them for awhile and have never had any problems with them. the maker of these is even on the catalyst team, all he does is tweak them some for visual quality and such

I just switched to the Omega version of 6.3, and I like them. Good stability, IQ in games seems a bit better, (may be my imagination, but...) My X850XT/PE AGP crd h as overclocked a bit farther with them, than under the official drivers too. Now THAT may just be co-incidence, but I never got past 590/600 with the ATI drivers, and now I'm at 600/610 with ZERO artifacting.

I would definitely recommend the WarCat drivers. I believe they have the "WarCat" series out for ATI cards which are supposed to be just as good as their excellent XG drivers. (Go to www.TweaksRUs.com)
