Im having issues with the new Omega drivers based on Cat 3.8 on my ATI 9700Pro. After about 20-30 min playing DAoC, my comp freezes and my Monitor looses signal. I have to hard boot to recover. This is the first time my comp crashed since i got it and the last thing I did was load the new Omega drivers. It happened 3 times last night.

I have used the Omega drivers for the last few months and have been happy with em, but it looks like i have to go back to the older ones. I am running WinXp Pro with an Athon 2800, Chaintech Nforce 2 mb, and 1GB ram.

I was gonna upgrade from the previous version of the Omega's but my system has been very stable so I'm thinking the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach might be better...

Thanks for the info NorrinRadd and welcome to the AnandTech forums! :D

I could'nt get the 3.8 Omega to install (Win9x) so i'm back running the vers based on the 3.6's which ran perfectly fine. Now I have a problem in bf1942. I get checkerboarding on buildings, some vehicles, only happens once in a while, and if I Alt+Tab out of game, then re-enter the game, it goes away for a while before reapearing.

Does'nt effect other games.

Omega takes Ati drivers and mods them usually for IQ improvements and game fixes which Ati can't use because then their drivers might not meet WHQL certification. At least thats what i've heard.

Tried the Omegas too and got the big freeze in GTA 3. On a reboot everything is changed back to default settings. Also when I go to 2 monitors, the 3-D tab changes for me in Advanced properties. I can no longer change any settings. Weird. I'll try the regular 3.8s tomorrow.

Downloaded the 3.8 from Ati and had no problems installing them. Weird that the Omega's would not install for me, and I even tried 2 totally seperate Downloads from 2 different sites.

Hopefully the BF1942 problems are gone. What little I was able to play seemed ok.

hollowman: I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 with an ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 64MB, Dell hasn't released new drivers in years. Not only were they a bit unstable but performance was aweful compared to the performance with the new drivers in many games (yes a 512MB ram upgrade and 7200RPM 60GB hd might have had something to do with it also...)

IIRC Omega is "quick" because ATi supply him with a copy of drivers so he can get them out as close to official release as possible. Fairly sure that's what I read.

ATI drivers from their website won't work with my dell notebook since ATI wants you to get specially packaged drivers from the OEM...

I have the Demo and it runs fine for me. I'm running a BBA 9800np and I could bore you with my specs but it wouldn't help. What are your specs?
