For the guy who's BF1942 doesnt work, try this. Go to the mods folder in the BF directory and then got to folder bf1942, and last goto the setting folder. Open Videodefault with noptepad. Now, the last line should read "renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0". Now just change that 0 to a 1. From what I can tell, I had the dame problem as you and this fixes it, I got this from the IGN boards so credit goes to him!

Registry and file modifications to enhance performance. Overclocking is optional on you with a provided utility if you should choose to use it.
