Picked one up at the Orlando store yesterday, they only had the 215i. Best price for a DVD writer on pricewatch from a reliable retailer is currently $63.90.

The Saugus and Everett stores in Massachusetts are OOS.
The manager told me to check online but there's no luck in that.

The 300i and 300e have been on and off sale at various discounts for the last couple of months.

OM sells HP computers. So, all the employees have HP computers and snatch these deals up.
The manager knew he had three and wanted to stnatch one up for himself but the employees alread bought them out of lock up.

He told me it was a discontinued item and clearanced nation wide.
There's a big display of these models with example shell examples of the units with no inards and lots of empty boxes right in front of the front door where you walk in the store.

I wish I got in on this. What's the deal on the Microadvantage 4x?

BTW, the in store ad from my local OM was different than that in your post.
It didn't list the DVD burners at all.

Staples doesn't cary HP. Has anyone tried a PM anywhere?
Would they take a printout of your instore sale jpg as proof?
They could always call the local store for confirmation.

went to the store, and the manager was stuttering like "y-y-y-you can get one of these other hp, b-b-b-but they not gonna be a special sale like that one (300i)"
i didn't say "300i", i said an "hp dvd burner"... how he know?! and how he know it's on sale?!! dadgum fw callers! :|

NO,

HP's Rebate requires 300i upc code and serial # of drive.

Stopped at my local omax. Didn't see either one of these drives, but I saw a Pacific Digital Dual 8x for 79 after rebates, so I bit. Turned out to be a rebadged Liteon 811S.

Hey,
You must have made a mistake b/c I went to work today, brought out the Cendyne and the Microadvantage 4X and none came up as $49. Both came up with different SKU and both were $169.00
Which store do you work in? You can PM me with this info.
Thanks.

At least one or more ee's at your closest store are knowledgeable as to these forums. One young guy over there (name starts with an "A" reads FW posts and knows which mfg drives are in which boxes too. So they probably jump on good deals too.

I found BestBuy selling the 300i on sale for $100.
They called my local OM for a price match.
My local OM is OOS.
BB stated the competing store had to have the item in stock for them to price match.

What good does that do anyone? I would just have bought it at OM instead of at BB. I thought they wanted to PM+10% to keep your business. If BB is big enough to buy up all available stock of an item, they don't have to wory about a competitor having it in stock to price match.

Parato, name me 1 store that will pm another store's price when the competitor doesn't even have it in stock?

As far as you saying if OM had it you would have bought it from them, lots of people use BB, CC etc to pm the lower price at another store because of the extra 10% - 15% of the difference they'll get on top of the pm.

generally Parato, as Carmann indicates above, the pm is to save you money if an when you can get it. If you're extremely lucky, they won't bother to call to check inventory. Sometimes just showing them an ad clearly indicating item and price can be enough, but this is a BIG YMMV. I don't think I've seen a "low price guarantee" that doesn't specify that item must be "in stock".

You can try to get lucky, but don't complain if your not. ;)

The sku for the 3 drives is the same but the prices have not been adjusted.

Have the manager verify the sku and the upc for the drives and match it to the skus listed on the flyer. They will have to change the price to $49.

2031-8513 and 2057-8778.

For some reason the SAP system at my store shows different SKUs for them.
