WOW almost all abbreviations and acronyms :)

In store deal with coupon 199 - 80MIR.

Anyhow this sure does not beat the Sam's club offer of 219-100MIR for the 100gig but I am not a member and OM is pretty straight with MIRs so I think it is still a good deal. No link just go to the store on Sunday. Coupon valid for 1 week.

That sounds nice. BTW, there is 25 off 100 coupon online. If we can use the coupon, then it's less than $100.

How do I link this sale through the Internet shopcenter? This drive is NOT available online, only b&m! That is why I had one put away for me last week at my local OM. I will certainly print out the savings offer page (which I GREATLY appreciate) and try to use it b&m, I just won't be counting on it.

OM is pretty straight with MIRs

You got to be kindding, right? You abviously have not been around here long enough to remember the OM/PP 200 CD-R fiasco. I would rate OM and their handling of rebates near last on my list. Still a good deal for anyone who want to trust the OM rebate. However, it looks like it is B&M only since OM.com does not have the 80GB on their website.:)

I found the rebate form online. I surely hope they carry it online.
Otherwise, you would have to use the $25 off coupon in the
catalogs they send out.

OfficeMax was good with rebates when all of the rebates went THROUGH THEM (i.e., pick your rebates from the large pamphlet, and send them all in to one place). Now they have it where you get them directly from EACH manufacturer. Still waiting on a few.

Anyway, what's the model number for this 80GB hard drive?? I want to look it up at Storage Review b/c I most likely WILL be buying this.

With regards to OM/PP, it's not OM's fault that PP went bankrupt and welched on its rebates.

In fact, someone from OM corporate was even paying out the rebates, on OM's account I presume.

Actually it was OM's fault. The rebate was a OM rebate and not a manufacturer rebate. The fact that PP declared Ch 11 is of no rlevence to the people promised a rebate from OM. OM did everything possible to avoid paying the rebates as long as possible. The rebates were not paid until the Mass Attorney General threatened to fine OM $10,000/ day until rebates were paid. Even then, it took an average of 5 months for them to pay OM is SUX

I have not had any issues with OM rebates so far and I buy there a lot. WRT PP this was one deal that I forewent :). I know I lucked out on that one, but basically it was too good to be true. Sorry for anyone who got f***ed there, but $50 on $50 or 60 sounded just unreal, and the product was not reviewed well either.

As stated above this deal is in their coupon book. They may have overlooked it - inadvertandly or on purpose - but the coupon exists, so should the promotion.

Modell is WD800BBRTL check it out on storagereview . It has 27gig/platter about 1/3 less than the 120gig drive which is the current performance leader. Nonetheless it has very solid scores.

Yo

From SR's conclusion:

" Overall, when it comes to workstation usage, the WD800BB provides formidable competition for IBM's Deskstar 60GXP. It's superior in the WinBench 99 Disk WinMarks, it comes very close in the IOMeter Workstation Index, and it offers something that the 60GXP doesn't: 20 gigs more capacity. The 60GXP retains an edge in entry-level file server applications, but if it's priced aggresively, Western Digital's drive may be a better choice for general workstation use."

At the time of test they recommended it

OK - this deal is definitely alive. I went to an OM here in Joisey and it was not advertized at the shelf, but when I picked up the drive the sales clerk without my asking gave me the extra rebate receipt and another coupon book.

I just picked up one too. Wasn't advertised, but the thing rang up for $199 and the rebate receipt printed out. Anyone want my 30GB Maxtor? :)
