Found Net2phone's Yap Jack (or Y@p Jack) at the local OM for $19.00 bucks out the door!!! Picked up four as gifts to family members--for the price why not?
For those who don't know what a Yap Jack is-- it is standalone unit (the size of an external cd-rom drive) that accesses the internet using your existing internet provider (no AOL
) to route phone calls to other phones (2.9 cents/min) or if the other user has a Yap Jack the call is free. On the net the lowest price is around $133 and on eb*y they go from $50 to $85.
I hooked mine up today and it works pretty darn well. I would say at least cell phone quality. The cool thing is that it comes with a $10 card/account and for whatever reason I was only charged 1 cent/min. 1000 minutes for $19 bucks isn't that bad on its own! The website says 1 cent/min. if you are on banner ad mode, but obviously that can't apply if you are using your own phone instead of your computer (which is possible with other net2phone products).
