hope this isn't a repost, but i just took at tomorrows officemax ad and i noticed that 50pk kypermedia spindle was only 4.99 after a $5 mail in rebate. $10 for a spindle of 50 isn't bad either. if anyone's like me, i've been waiting for a good deal on cheap cdrs, and i've found one.

Yo these aren't even "cheap" CD-R's. IMO they're right up there with the TY's.

So I think this deal is pretty freaking hot. Too bad the nearest OM is a 45 min train ride away for me.

Lets not get carried away, I have four CD-ROMs, and these CDR's only read perfectly on 2 of them (burned using Plextor 8x/20x burner). One of my CD-ROMs can't read them at all (Pioneer SCSI 32x slot loading CD-ROM).

Taiyo Yudens burn and read perfectly on everything. They are perfect, along with CDRs made by Mitsui. Both made in Japan ... any surprise? :)

they're TY's but they do work fairly well. I've used for various stuff, but if you wanna back up data for years to come, or something real important I suggest the TY's. These run 7.99 if you find them on sale time to time @ Fry's. If not they're about $11.00, so not a bad deal.

The one's that are usually on sale in the Bay Area are usually 74 minute Hotan. POS CD'R's IMO.

And yeah, I still think the K-Hypermedia's are up there with the TY's. I've been loyal to them since outpost.com had them on sale for really cheap combined with free shipping.

OH, and WERK, that link has your session ID in it.

Stupid officemax.com has cookies in the URL so posting a link won't work, but the ITEM # is 20047584

I don't think Hypermedia can even compare to TY. I have had so-so experience with Hypermedia. TY has always been the best for me.
not a bad deal for $5 though.

Anybody else run in to a problem with the SKU # on the spindle not matching the SKU # required by the rebate form?

The reason is that the OM ad and promo was supposed to be for the old kHypermedia 650MB 12X discs. But most stores, at least all the ones here, now only carry the newer kHypermedia 700MB 24X discs, and substituted them for the sale. But as noted, the SKU # for these discs is different, so the chances of getting the rebate are iffy.

Seems like there are always problems with OM rebates ... Prime Peripherals rebates, any rebates that go to New Rochelle, NY, etc. etc. :(
