Olympus xD digital media card... univesally accepted?

thinking about buying an olympus digital camera but i'm worried about the media it uses.. is the xD thing that Olympus uses as compatible with other hardware (readers, printers, walgreens)?

there are readers for it...

and my HP printer has a slot for it too.

yes most laces take them the do printing liek walmart and such, newer printer take them that have built in card readers, my 6in1 USB card reader has a space for one

they are expensive cause only OLy uses them and they are tiny and easy to loose

fugi uses them too.

They are supposed to use less power. I have no idea if they are better than the others. though.
