so the E-30 = all the functions of an E-3 into the size of a E-500?

looks bigger than an e-500.

i'm guessing it's e-3 electronics, nearly e-3 body, much smaller prism. different weather proofing too.

a new and updated feature to replace the current splash- and dust-proof function.

dunno what that means. canon's better body seam alignment?

That mockup looks like it has serious potential if they could actually make the production model in the same form factor. With a 20 (40mm) pancake lens on that thing, it would be a very versatile carry-around camera that gives DSLR quality photos but doesn't automatically make you look like a tourist.

I must say that it would look quite awkward with some of the higher grade 4/3 system telephoto lenses out there...actually, even the 14-140mm that was announced with the Panasonic G1 looks like it could dwarf the rest of this camera.

add me into the mix. i was thrilled to see that this morning. then bummed when it said "prototype." So it may be quite some time before we see it.

I like the tiny micro4/3 prototype. That is exactly what will lead Olympus to popularity and large profitability in the market once again.

ever since m4/3 was announced i've thought it's mostly panasonic (with nearly no SLR sales to speak of) behind it. this is something that was asked for by marketing a couple months ago when they realized the e-30 wasn't going to be ready in time for doing anything other than sitting under glass at photokina.

i wonder if panasonic will license olympus it's contrast-focus method?
