I bought an Olympus ME51S microphone for my GoPro HD Hero2.

Here is the thing. There is a noise while recording. Listen to this MP3 file. I recorded this video in a room where only a PC fan was the only sound that could be heard. There wasn't any other sound source.

You can hear clearly a noise that repeats itself. I shot other videos too for testing purposes and the noise is there, but you can hear it easily when recording in a silent environment.

So what is causing it?

I'm not exactly an expert but my best guess is that your new microphone is picking up more background noise and the audio compression from the GoPro is turning it into that junk sound.

I always keep my GoPro in the shell for protection from the elements so sound hasn't ever been important to me. Everything I record gets muffled anyway so I can't really tell how good the audio compression is or isn't.

I think I have identified the problem. One pin of the GoPro's mic connector (the one towards the opening of the connector) looks pushed down.

Any way of fixing this?
