I have this camera and I absolutely love it. Think I paid 308 when I got it like a year and a half ago. No regrets at all. Only other things you are gonna want to pick up are an additional SM card, a reader (unless you awnt to wait for serial transfer) and some rechargable NiMh batts. I would highly recommend.

I used to have this cam and it was great.

If you've got the cash I'd upgrade to the D-510 (around $300-$325) which has some cool features. 2.1 mp, larger buffer (less time between pics), quicker interface.

I got the cam on clearance at Target for $87.xx and it does take great pics for a 1.3 mp camera. Btw, according to Oly digicam support the camera can handle a 128mb card. And no, the cam doesn't have video capability.

I think this deal is dead for most people.
The camera has been long discontinued, having been replaced several months ago by the D-150. I'll bet most Wal-Marts have been sold out of this camera for quite some time. You must have got lucky and found one on clearance.

Not a bad camera at all. Just make sure to buy rechargeable NiMH batteries. Anybody tried 128MB Smartmedia cards on these and verifed that it works? 64MB is not enough. Still got to buy a Smartmedia reader/writer, serial transfer is way too slow. :disgust:

About 6 months ago, I returned a $220, 2.1mp Hot Deal crap camera from buycom,
and then bought this on uBid for $200. Awesome camera, and it blows away the
2.1mp camera, even though it's only 1.3mp. Olympus knows camera's.

8x10 photo's come out great.
You cannot tell 5x7's didn't come from quality 35mm camera and Photolab.
Low light is no problem. Any light is no problem.
Using rechargables, battery life is great.
3x Optical zoom is a "MUST HAVE". Do NOT buy a camera without it!
Has sequence mode option, which keeps taking pix as long as you hold
down the button, or until SM card is full, at about 2 or 3 pix per second.
Has video out for displaying pix or slide show on your TV.
LCD screen works great, and has some nice playback options.
Packed with features that you will really use.

I am using 4 leftover 8 meg SM cards. Each holds about 20 pix's at SHQ mode, 1280x960.
This allows me to quickly organize the picture while I take them.
You can modify the SM cards to be like original Oly, which enables built-in Panorama.
Did try a 128meg SM, and no problem except couldn't modify it to appear as Oly OEM.

Some sample untouched images can be seen here:
Oly 460 test pictures
(Some of the race car were shot at 640x480, others at 1280x960,
but you can see the difference. Had camera only a few days, and
was playing around with lighting, flash, and settings to learn).

Prior to this had an excellent Ricoh 300z, but it's resolution only
only allowed photo quality prints at 3.5"x5" max.

I had the D-450 back in '98, it was a nice camera, but I just recently upgraded to the Fuji 2600 for $229 and that's with a 64 mb sm card. 3X optical, 1.8 tft, nimh batteries & charger, movie mode, etc.. Overall much better than my D-450.

Its definitely a great camera. Indoor and outdoor shots are really perfect. Plus it doesnt look like a digital camera. It looks more like a regular camera so maybe its less prone to theives.

>>>Actually, this is rather cold for a 1.3MP digicam.

Ditto. As far as printing 8x10s, look elsewhere, I had this cam and DID print 8x10s. Not so great. For a few extra bucks you could spring for a decent fuji 2MP or dropp $299 on a brand new Fuji2800z w/6x optical zoom. BTW, I love Oly cams, but this one isn't the best and not the best price.

<< $180 at Amazon? I can't find it there. I had a D-460 so I know it was a really good camera, and for $200, not bad at all.

Anyway, while looking for digicams, I found this thread
Ultra Compact 2.1MP 3x optical zoom camera thread

I think the Konica deal is the best one I've found so far.

Not as hot as the Staples $160 Elph S100. God I love bragging about it :)

Do you think this is hotter than the $99 I paid for the Toshiba PDR-M60? No coupons, no rebates, brand new in the box :)
I picked this up at Target a week after I got the Oly 460 there. Hey, I told a few other people on the board about the deal ;)

made up my mind and bought it this afternoon. the price went down to 185 bux, fits right in my budget, nice!!!

As far as printing 8x10s, look elsewhere, I had this cam and DID print 8x10s. Not so great.

actually, i'm not into printing 8x10 pix using a digicam. i just wanna use it for sending pix to my relatives. for big size pix, i'll probably use the SLR cameras.
