This is a sweet digicam but come on $425 for only 2 megapixels?

I'd rather get a Canon S200 or S330 for less, just don't order it from Dell otherwise you'll be waiting forever.

It's the LENS people, the LENS. We are talking 10X optical here. You CANNOT buy a 10X zoom lens in any camera for anywhere near that price. Unless, or course, we are talking about the Olympus 2100 that has the same lens, but with image stabilization. You may be able to find one of these at CompUSA for about 500 clams. I would say the image stabilization is worth the extra money. I have this feature on my Canon 10x30 IS binoculars also, and you push a button, and it smooths out the shake. One of the coolest tech features I have ever seen. Runs off two AA batteries.

qjj:
The link you included is for a "factory serviced" camera, so I doubt a pricematch would work, and even if it did it would be a bit unethical

not to hot. i got my c-2100 which is the same camera except image stabilization ( if you don't have this at 10x zoom and you don't use a tripod your images will be blurry as hell ) for 475 bucks at my local wall mart. you should be able to find the c-2100 for a few dollars more than 420 bucks, but for image stabilization, it is well, well worth it.

Cattlegod, you miss the pluses of the c-700 over the 2100. First of all, the c-700 is about a quarter of the size of the 2100. The 2100 is huge and akward.

Second, white balance and color saturation on the C-700 is hailed as being one of the best on any camera, much better then the 2100.

Third, Getting successfull shots at hgher zooms without IS is much easier with the c-700 because it is lighter, and the weight it does have is much more condensed and centralized, making it much easier to brace against yourself. I can take perfect still shots down to 1/100ss handheld right now, and I'm willing to bet someone with practice can safely get lower then that.

Don't get me wrong, the 2100 is a great cam, but it fills a completely different niche then the c-700.

Too bad I didn't get the refurbs at adorama it was only $299 which I still think is alot for a 2MP camera... Nice 10X though you could get a Fuji 2800 with 6X zoom new for that same amount.

This is more of a snapshot type of camera. It's compact and has a great zoom, but doesn't have any of the features that an enthusiest would want. Not even on par with the C30x0z/C40x0z line.

Just a word of warning if you're after a camera that will do more than point and shoot.

Erm, Sal, sure you're thinking of the same cam? The C-700 is almost fully manual, you select ISO from 100-800, SS from 16seconds to 1/1000, manual aperture, manual exposure, flash timings... Plus it has the standard external flash plug and you7 can find tons of lens kits for them... very far from a point and shoot camera
