My brother is having issues and wants help..

Brother: I it having some problems. everything works other than when I turn the knob to select view, take ìcture, or movie doesn´t change the mode and the arrow buttons to move and select items from the menu don´t work now
Brother: I have done the reset activation whch resets the cameras functions and settings to factory but no change




anyone have any ideas?
 
Sounds like a defective camera. How old is it? Do you have a replacement warranty on it? Is it less than the allotted amount of time for a refund/exchange?
 
he got it 2 weeks ago, it has the warrenty only problem is he bought it to take pictures while he's in europe so he's currently in italy. warrenty doesn't do much good.
 
Has he verified that it is still even taking pictures? How would he know since he can't go back and view them. I'd take it someplace with a compact flash reader and check.
