Why not combine the rebuilding of the Twin Towers with the building of an Olympic Village. Why not build a HUGE complex that can handle ALL the housing needs and major stadium needs of an Olympics (with the exception of things that require a river) in one HUGE complex??

if they can submit something like that to the olympic commitee and also throw in the unity aspects of rebuilding something that was torn down by terrorism etc etc. i think they could get it.

any thoughts?

i think the olympics should stay away from the united states for a long time. i couldnt handle all the rememberence and unity and patriotism bullcrap. its bad enough what they plan do to for rebuilding the world trade center. they should just build it exactly the same.

but i could just be in a bad mood becuase they have been airing these 9/11 hearings on all the local stations here. just a bunch of old fat white guys complaining but not getting anything done.

ps, save the $$ so we get the jets on the west side and nets in brooklyn

My feelings exactly.

Give it to some third world country to help build out their infrastructure. We really don't need it here.

i thought most jets fans didn't want the stadium on the west side. if you put it there, where will you tail gate?? or is tailgating only for midwesterners.

Actually I was referring to the first sentence. Growing up on the upper west side and with my mom and sister still living there, I would not want a stadium in the neighborhood. Its hard enough getting parking now with all this new development, it'll be impossible with a stadium there.

Yea because a third world country can accomodate all of the athletes and has the resources to build the required venues.

"Missing the cut were Havana; Istanbul, Turkey; Leipzig, Germany, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil."

"The other four cities, the report said, "do not have the requisite level of capability at this time.""

There is no room in lower manhattan for all the necessary components of the olympic games. Plus, many events occur at the same time so they must spread out. Also, it would totally bring ALL non-tourism/olympics business in the area to a halt. Bad idea for an area just now beginning to recover. And, it would create one big fat terrorist target.

All in all, I have to say this is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. Sorry.

BTW, here's a map of the proposed layout for the 2012 Summer Olympics in NYC.
