Olympic events should be scheduled to happen in USA prime time.

The USA pays far more advertising revenue to the Olympics than any other country.

I think that all Olympic events, no matter what country they are held in, should be scheduled for prime time American television.

Its the right thing to do.

Why? Much of America doesn't watch the Olympics anyway...or at least, not more than a few selected events.
Make it Pay per View...

People are going to watch during prime time anyway - this actually benefits advertisers. Have you actually watched the Olympics at all on television? I can't believe this hasn't been noticed: during a 30 second time out, they manage to stick in multiple minutes of advertising, without cutting into the event at all.

I do, however, find the coverage to be horrible. It seems that an hour of Olympics is: 15 minutes of inane banter, 20 minutes of events, 25 minutes of commercials.

I might be a little low on the commercials.

Yeah the Olympics can be Tedious to watch live, jumping all over to different crap sports. I'd rather just see the highlights with proper commentary to tell the truth.. in other words no English accents.

The Olympics exist solely for the sponsors and IOC members to make money. The athletics are just a sideshow event.

No. The more you insulate Americans from reality, the dumber they get. At least in the current form they can see that Time is different elsewhere.

You're an idiot.

I won't go as far as calling the OP an idiot but (unless he's trolling) he sure does have a US-centric view of the world.

The pop of the US makes up only a very small portion of the worlds pop but we should hold the Olympics at a time more convenient for us?

Sounds like a great way for the rest of the world to dislike us even more than they already do ...

You do get prime time viewing, just that they are tape delayed. Don't follow sports results during the day and you're set for you night time enjoyment.

How about you watch the actual sport? Most of what is shown in highlights isn't really that exciting or interesting if you KNOW the sport, if you don't know the sport you probably don't give a fuck anyway. Basically, watch the sport for what it is in it's entirety because highlights are stupid and not really all that good. And what's wrong with the english accents? The BBC's coverage is leaps and bounds better than the US.

I love watching the Olympics via the BBC site. They show the full events of the day. Also can catch up on some with the taped ones.

With how much money we spend keeping the Europoors safe from Communist scum, it's the least they can do.

I don't even know why there is an Olympics. It's not like any of the other nations show up to compete. It's like a US only exhibition.
