Man the Mavs are just out of luck this year. The best person they can get now is Robert Horry.

Mavs may pull a trade to get what they need...

Kenny Thomas for 50M? OUCH!

Interesting to see if the Clips match the offer for Brand.

When is A.Miller going to sign?

Kandiman signing for less than what he could have got? You mean he actually cares?

I think Corey Maggette signed an offer sheet with Utah as well. So the Clippers stand to lose Brand, Miller, Maggette, Odom and already lsot Olawakandi. Not that it really matters much because they stink anyway.

Robert Horry isn't going to get the Mavs over the hump even though he is a nice role player. Problem is he's not a PF or C and the Mavs already have two defensive small forwards on the team. If Dallas has to do a trade and lose one of Nash, Nowitzki, or Finley, I really hope they get a C or PF in return else it's not worth it.

I didnt say it would. It wouldnt, but thats the only person they will go after at this point. And they wont trade Nash, Nowitzki or Finely. If they didnt have all that dead weight at center ugh. When do the contracts run out for LaFrenz and Bradley?

Maggette is supposed to, but I don't know if it's happened yet.

Brand, Miller, and Maggette are all RESTRICTED free agents though, so if the Clippers make matching or better offers they cannot leave the Clippers.

I wasn't arguing with you, just against the general idea of signing Horry. I don't want the Mavs to sign someone now just to say they were active in FA. I believe La Frent'z contract runs through the 2007 season and Bradley's has (I think) two years left on his. Problem is, Finley and Nash will both be well into their 30's at that point. I think the Mavs window of championship opportunity is probably 3-4 years, so both contracts are killing them. Also Eschmeyer is a significant contract that just adds to the gluttony at center, but I think his is the shortest. If I were going to pick a team that has the most longevity of contention, it would definately be SA. I think LA has maybe two years, and Sacramento will only be serious contender as long as Webber can stay healthy. Goes to show you how the importance of managing the salary cap cannot be overrated.

They are restricted but I don't think they will be able to match all of the offers. in fact Brand's deal was made specifically so the Clippers wouldn't match it. We will see what happens.

Nets are gonna be in the finals for many years to come. NJ has the best point guard in the game, soon to be the best power forward in the east, Above average center with good backup centers. and Kobe will make a nice fit into the guard slot.

Of all the teams Kobe could sign with, I'm pretty sure it won't be an East team. Kobe could easily lead any of the top 3-4 contenders in the West to a championship with just him on it. I guess the same could be said for the Nets, but the West is where it's at

But Nets have Byron Scott, Byron is Kobe's mentor when he came into the NBA no ?
Maybe Byron can pull some strings if Kobe stays a free agent.

let's see, Kobe, Kmart, Kidd, Zo.

i think they could go to the finals and have a decent shot at winning.

True, but if the Nets lose AGAIN this season in the Finals, Byron probably won't be coaching the Nets again :)

Um, yea, that's what I said. Assuming Zo's kidney doesn't crap out on him

Yup, what wasn't said is that if kobe played with the nets he would be VIRTUALLY guaranteed to go to the finals every year for 2 or 3 years. not necessarily true with a west team other than the lakers.
