Decided to go to Olive Garden for lunch 12:25 PM. We are not new to Olive Garden. We were seated promptly and had menus laid before us. Picking up the menus, the wife stated, wow, the prices have really gone up. I looked for my soup / salad / breadstick lunch and it was now over $11. The wife then said, I know what the problem is, they gave us dinner menus, not the lunch menus. When the waitress came back to take our order, we quickly asked for their lunch menus. “Oh, I’m sorry, I’ll bring some right away.” She brought us lunch menus that had the soup / salad / breadstick lunch for $6.99 and my wife’s lunch for considerable lower price too. Being seated in the middle of a large dining room we started keeping track of who was given lunch menus and who was given dinner menus. Everyone was being given dinner menus! On just my meal, Olive Garden would have made over 60% more profit (at the dinner price).

Is this dishonest?

That does sound pretty shady. Is there a difference in the meal size lunch/dinner?

IIRC, doesn't Olive Garden have it where the hostess pick up menus from the front podium to seat you when you walk in or your buzzer is buzzed? Whoever brings out the menus to stash them there for the afternoon may have grabbed the wrong ones which would explain why everyone was getting them.

Well, that also :)

Does sound shady to me, I hope at least they were serving the dinner sized portions to the people ordering off that menu.

Even if someone had put the wrong menus there, you would have thought one of the servers would have noticed that.

No it's not dishonest, most restaurants will have cheaper lunch because portions are smaller. Eat out more often.
