Olevia vs Envision vs brand name?

(My budget is really $700, this $850 is stretching me a bit already, so I'm not going higher)

I found a 42" 1080p Olevia LCD at Target for $850, which seems like a really good deal. The TV isn't super sexy and it only has 2 HDMI ports.

I also found a 42" 1080p AOC Envision at Costco for $800 + 5% non-members fee. Its a bit sexier and has 3 HDMI ports.

I don't know much about the current brands, so:
Should I get one of these? If so, which one?
Hold out for something better?
Or suck it up and get a nice Samsung 32" instead?

With Olevia going (or gone, I'm not sure) bankrupt, you might be out of luck with any customer service or warranty if you purchase one of their TVs.

How about the 42" Vizio Plasma ($750) or 42" Vizio LCD (~$900).

At least they have money in the bank and probably about the same quality as your other two.

If you don't have a Target card, you will save another 10% by signing up for it. The 3yr warranty service they offer is very inexpensive and should they not be able to repair or replace the Olevia, they give you back the full purchase price. You can just apply it to another brand set as that time, and the sets will likely be even cheaper by then.

Yeah, but AOC Envision? You'd probably be better off going with westinghouse.

AOC has been around a long time. Longer than Samsung I believe. Its not a bad brand. Just not well known. My mother has an AOC tv for well over 20 years now and it is still working well.
