So recently I've been looking into budget HD tvs and so I am not quite sure if Olevia lcd are good or not. I've heard that the picture with HD signal is great but analog and non HD material is pretty horrible. Can anyone confirm this? I am looking into a 27'' 227v or 427v Olevia as a bedroom tv set. Anyone with experiences with this company? I did a search on this forum and Im still in doubt.

My girlfriend and I picked up the 227v about a month before Christmas for a bedroom TV. It has a decent picture but the remote BLOWS. You will hate the remote, and you will try to find a universal remote to replace it. You'll have to get a learning remote, and the only one I found that will work is the Sony RM VL600.

I hooked my desktop PC to it with a DVI to HDMI cable and WoW looked pretty nice on it. Analog TV doesn't look too horrible, but it's not supposed to look great (correct me if i'm wrong). I wish I could tell you how HD cable looks, but we don't have it right now. DVD's hooked up with the Component cables looks pretty good. There is some ghosting in different parts of the movies, but I don't know if having an HD hookup for the DVD player would resolve this.

GO search for the specific model at AVS's HDTV forums. THere's always people out there reviewing just about every model there is.

I got the 337 Olevia HD LCD. (within the last month)No tuner but I am really happy with it.
Some people hate the remote, but it isn't too bad. It certainly isn't a deal breaker.

A 37" TV for 599? Can't go wrong there.

I hear the ATI Xilleon chip on that 427V has some issues with SD according to AVS Forum. My TV has the Pixelworks DNX chip. I have a Olevia 332H in the bedroom (got it Black Friday, Thanksgiving Time) and I'm very happy with it. No tuner but I have Comcast HD DVR so I don't really mind that. Only problem I have is that over VGA it has some tearing issues. I had my Xbox360 on it with VGA to upconvert standard DVD's but I noticed tearing, with component there's no such tearing but also no upconverting. When I hooked up my HTPC via VGA I had tearing on it as well (you can eliminate overscan by pressing the aspect ratio on remote letting it be 1:1 and setting resolution to 1360x768). The Picture comes out clear over VGA but the tearing is really annoying. I want to do DVI to HDMI (get dual DVI video card) from my HTPC but the HDMI is already occupied by Comcast HD DVR so I would need to get a HDMI Switch. No Issues over Composite, S-Video, Component, or HDMI only VGA. All the people at the AVS Forum have the same issue as well. Overall though I would say this TV is comparable to my friends Samsung LCD but at about half the price.

I'm happy with mine. The remote is functional, I've had no problems with it. As for SD signals, from what I've read, the Olevias are pretty good compared to other hd sets. This is my only hdtv though so I have no first hand experience.

Most all brands are like that.
No, you don't understand, it's REALLY REALLY bad.

I'm REALLY close to pulling the trigger on this TV. It's still at $599 and I want it for my bedroom. It'll replace the huge-ish 30" WS Tube TV we have.

im glad that you guys seem to like the brand. Im asking really cause one of my friends work in there and the discount is pretty decent. Im looking at the 27'' and it comes out to be 400 bucks. Really great price I would say? I've just never had experience with any of the instore units so I don't know how good they are.

Are you speaking from experience? Which tv?

The SD on my 542i looks perfectly fine.
