OLED for HTPC/gaming use?

I asked this in the Displays subforum, got zero responses in a week. So reposting here, hoping for more comments.

Anybody here using OLED yet? If you are, can you post the specific screen you have and any general comments from your use? Curious how they handle HTPC duty - is IR an issue like it is for plasma? Do these screens refresh fast enough for gaming use?

Thanks!
:)

There is a risk of burn in and IR, but not on plasma levels. Unless you plan to leave something on 24/7 you should be fine. Heck I use plasmas with HTPCs all the time, I think this is an issue that has been overblown for years.

Only real gaming issues I can think of is some OLED panels (like the LG ones) have kinda high input lag.

The EC9300 I have has ~30-35ms input lag. I have not experienced any burn-in, only temporary IR that goes away.

There's no ghosting with an OLED display, but the LG's still use sample and hold so you do get perceived blur.

Good review here I recommend reading... http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-brand/lg/ec9300

Overall I've been very happy with mine, it's hard going back to my monitor after spending time with the OLED. The contrast is just incredible.

I would go oled if I didn't want freesync. I highly recommend going oled op if you're interested in amazing iq. It seems x3sphere already has a low input model although you probably want to see if you have anymore options.

The second an oled 60+ inch freesync monitor comes out I'll dump what I have for that lol. First need the first monitor to hit retail!

I'm all onboard with OLED. That's what I'm waiting on before I do any major upgrades to my TV/monitor situation.

Excellent review, thanks for sharing x3!

The LG plasma in my sig developed a single line of dead pixels last week and so it's time to replace. The 55EC9300 is the model I've actually been looking at mostly, based on size and price. How long have you had yours? Is this strictly a monitor or is it general use (TV viewing, etc)? I'm a very casual gamer these days so the input lag very unlikely to be a factor (or even noticeable).
