I currently have my P 233 MMX overclocked to 300mhz, 3x100mhz at 3.0V from 2.8V. It is running fairly cool on a P5A-B, but it does crash about every like week or so. This is my server in my rigs page. Does anyone think that it's because of the OS (win2k pro), or is it that the cpu is unstable? Would 3.1V be safe... I am a little scared to use 3.1V though :D TIA ;)

Nice overclock for an MMX:)

If its an old system have you checked to see if the HSF is dust free?

I recently replaced it anyways, so I know it's clean :)

EDIT: Thanks btw :D I actually got it to post at 350 once :Q must be an insanely good chip ;)

Btw 3.1v is about a 11% over std vcore ,so it should be ok ,keep an eye on cpu temps though. What temps do you get under load?
350 is just insane!:)

Ok, i may try it, i want to get it goin' to 350 stable, that would be sooo sweet :D i can go all the way up to 3.5V :Q ;)

yeah, 3.1 should be fine, but i doubt you are going to hit 350 with that voltage. maybe if you used 3.5 with really good cooling, but the extra voltage, even with good cooling, is going to reduce the life of the chip considerably.

Well win 2k pro isnt the best Os around. Keep an eye on that. As for your overclocking, all answers are right as core voltage and FSB speeds. Just be careful on the heat as it will reduce the life of your chip. BIG HEATSINKS and FANS help!

Don't even think about 3.5v!:Q;)

Btw my Pentium 233MMX is at 266 MHz (76MHz FSB) ,I reckon the cpu would probably go higher but the rubbishy Elite P5TX Bpro v2.0a m/brd refuses to boot at 83MHz:( ,I know its not the cpu cos I have set a lower multiplier & its running PC133 SDRAM!,I suppose it could be the ancient PCI graphics card it has.
And I so nearly got an Asus TXP4 to replace it for next to nothing but the deal fell through:(

That sucks. I got a k6-3+ 450 for this motherboard, but since it was revision 1.05, it has a severe performance issue with that cpu. :( If it was 1.04 or earlier, I would now have a k6-3+ @ 600mhz in there, and wouldn't even be asking you guys this question ;)
