Are older steering wheel sets able to be used with current games? My sons want to play some racing games and I found on Craigslist a Thrust Master Nascar Pro Digital 2 but don't want to buy it if it Wong work with current games. Sellers offer no help and just shrug and say don't know.

PC I'm assuming?

As long as it either works with generic HID drivers or there are appropriate drivers for your OS (7? 8?) it will work.

DirectInput makes it so your game doesn't have to support your specific controller.

Sorry for slow response.
Yes PC.
I got one reply back from the seller, essentially saying it "should work since with windows 7 since it has a USB on it". I'm getting no further response asking if they have tried it themselves, so at this point I'm guessing I should just save up to get my kids a decent priced used wheel that I know will work (like a G25/27)

Check cl and your local GameStops for a Logitech Driving Force Pro. I know it works in W7. Its also very cheap for what it is.

ETA: Its a PS2/3 steering wheel designed for Gran Turismo. Has force feedback. Works with anything that supports DirectInput on PC (effectively, everything).

Make sure it comes with the AC adapter.

Ok, so I did end up buying that Nascar Pro Digital 2 wheel, figured for $10 it was worth a try. When I plugged it in on my win8 machine it looked like it installed (dinged a couple times) but I don't see anything to calibrate.

Googling, I found this link for a win7 driver, but when I tested with a racing demo on steam it seems to "see" the wheel but the left pedal is the gas (backwards).

Would the game be better off trying with older games or am I still needing a better driver?

EDIT: I am testing with a demo of Race07, and I was able to use the wheel but for some reason it would phantom down shift at times. I forgot I also have Grid, I'm downloading it now and will try that later.
