does anyone have a set of Altec Lansing ACS-500's and/or Aura Aspect 20's?

the ACS-500's are the speakers that are these large towers that sit on each side of the monitor that have 5 smaller speakers in each unit...

I wanted to find reviews on them but I haven't been able... if anyone knows where I can find the reviews or can tell me of their expereinces with them, i'd really appreciate it.

Aren't/weren't the ACS500's more than $500 when they were new? This is only my opinion, and others will disagree (probably violently), but I don't like the sound of the Klipsch speakers. They sound too "bright" (i.e., too much treble) for my tastes. Even with equalization I am not a big fan of the Klipsch sound.

Have you been able to hear the ACS500's in person?

um... not sure about the aspect20's, but i know aspect30's have better highs/mids even compared to klipsh (IMO anyway). the aura30's are excellent, easily far better than acs48's, they even come close to my midiland s2 4100s. all you really need to add to those beauties is a good sub :)

yeps... they were about that much... i recall Best Buys selling them for $499. I never figured out why anyone would wanna pay that much for desktop speakers.

I'm thinking about really getting these $100 pair and giving my Kiplish quest a rest.

doesn't anyone have a pair that can vouch for them?

as for the Auras... I have a pair of the Aura 20/40 kit... they sound pretty amazing... i would like to read some reviews on them though.

I missed an oppurtinty to but an Aura 30 pair (actually Aura's headquarters are less than 3 mins from my house, not that anyone cares). The local Fry's bought too many of them and priced them at $20 to clear their stock.
