Older PC, USB/PS2 ports via MB add-on card

I have an older PC (366MHz Celeron, 256MB of RAM) that I managed to install Windows XP on and I have some driver issues. I figured that XP would automatically recognize the USB 1.1 ports, but no-go. I just want to be able to use an optical mouse, can't imagine going back to a roller ball.

I was thinking that I'd try and look up some drivers from the MB's manufacturer's website, but there must be some generic USB drivers that can get me by in the meantime, no?

What should I do to most quickly solve my problem?

You could use a usb->ps2 adapter for your mousing needs. These are pretty cheap, and a lot of new usb mice come with them. Just a thought.

As far as the real issue, the best bet would be to check the manufacturer's website.

WinXP SP2 should have drivers for this.
If not, then try installing drivers from either the motherboard drivers or the drivers for the PCI card.
