With an older Athlon XP system of mine, I have been having general booting/crashing problems. The motherboard is an Epox 8RDA+ and I have to clear the CMOS to get it to boot if it has not been off for at least a few minutes. The LED diagnostic status display C1 (from a little research, that suggests some type of memory problem, not quite sure). Also, once it boots, the system status on the flash screen show that the VDD is extremely low... about 1.05-1.10 volts. If I go into the BIOS menu and watch the health status, I see that voltage rise over time. Once the machine has been running for a little while (maybe 30 minutes max), it will crash, and I will not be able to boot it up.
I have tried different RAM modules to verify that as a problem, but does not fix it in any way. Am I to assume that this motherboard is the item to replace? Or any other ideas?
EDIT: I think I found the problem... found a few capacitors that appear to have exploded.
