My dad has an older (Pentium 2.8 ghz singlecore era) Intel motherboard (ABIT IC7) and the fan died. I have the stock heatsink fan for my core 2 duo from when I upgraded to a better version, but it isn't immediately apparent that it will fit - the motherboard appears to have the correct holes, but it also has a clip/grip that interferes with the heatsink placement - but that might come off if we remove the motherboard from the case.
Can anyone provide any information on / about this or advice? Can this be done? Thanks.
